Ready Set SCHOOL is a school readiness program that is designed to build those crucial social-emotional skills needed to for a smooth transition to primary school.  Children's learning is facilitated through play, art and craft, movement, stories, role-plays, and games. The group incorporates both structured learning and child-led approaches and experiences. Throughout the program, children are supported to work as a team but also to develop independence and confidence in their learning.

The key areas that the group program focuses on are:

  • Developmental and educational, including attention and concentration, fine motor skills, and pre-literacy skills.
  • Relationship to self and others, including teamwork skills, communication, and managing differences and conflicts.
  • Emotional regulation, including learning to identify feelings, learning about non-verbal cues, and developing ways of managing big feelings.
  • Social skills, including understanding friendships, turn-taking, waiting, and sharing.
  • Sense of Self, including building children’s knowledge of themselves, improving confidence, and encouraging self-reflection.
