COVID-19 & TELEHEALTH

The COVID-19 pandemic is unlike anything our generation has experienced before, and these are challenging times for everyone; emotionally, socially and financially.  At Southern Child and Family Psychology, we are committed to continuing to provide the same level of specialised, evidence-based treatment for our clients and families during this difficult time.

However, we also acknowledge the importance of various COVID-Safe measures at different times throughout the  pandemic, as stipulated by the Department of Health and the Australian Government.

We are currently providing both face-to-face appointments and telehealth (videoconferencing or telephone). Sometimes appointments that have been scheduled as face-to-face need to be changed to telehealth last minute due to changing circumstances.

What is Telehealth?

A telehealth session is a session conducted via a live video and audio connection.  Many people may have had experience with video calls through FaceTime or Skype with family and friends.  We use a platform called Coviu for hosting telehealth sessions.  Coviu is the Australian Government's video telehealth platform of choice. It is HIPPA compliant with end-to-end encryption to ensure your telehealth session is safe and secure.
You will be sent an email at the beginning of your appointment with a link to join your telehealth session.

Telehealth enables individuals to stay home and practice social distancing measures whilst continuing to look after their mental health and wellbeing.  While some aspects of sessions will inevitably be different, rest assured that there is much good work that can be done over telehealth, and our clinicians have developed many fun and engaging ways to help our younger clients adjust to telehealth.

Telehealth, Medicare, NDIS & Private Health

Medicare rebates, private health rebates, and NDIS funding will all still be applicable with telehealth sessions.

Using Telehealth

There may be technical difficulties at times with telehealth, as businesses across the country all move online and there are additional pressures placed on internet bandwidth.  You will be sent an email with the link for your telehealth session at the beginning of your scheduled appointment. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or queries regarding telehealth.
